Joint Marketing Forces Launch "Discover the Taste of Germany"
A cooperation agreement has been made between the German National Tourism Board (GNTB) and the Deutsches Weininstitut (DWI) for the promotion of wine, culture, and enjoyment in Germany. Campaign milestones were introduced on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in Mainz.

Top Positions for German Pinot Noir Among the World's Leading Wines
Arranged by the German Wine Institute, an internationally renowned jury of wine experts tested top quality Pinot Noirs from ten different wine growing nations in London. The result of this blind tasting: Seven out of the selected Top 10 Pinot Noirs came from Germany.

Wine Lovers Can Expect A Great 2011 Vintage
German wine producers are looking forward to a very good 2011 vintage which will be available in sufficient quantity in nearly all of the growing regions. The German Wine Institute (DWI) announced that the total amount harvested, according to the latest estimates, is expected to be about nine million hectolitres. Nationwide, this year’s yield is therefore around the average level of the past ten years and 30 percent above the exceptionally low – 7.1 million hectolitres – yield of the previous year. Only in Franken and Württemberg, where the frost in May caused heavy losses, will the yield be similarly low as in 2010.
A crown for Rheinhessen: Annika Strebel is the 63rd German Wine Queen
The new Wine Queen was simply overwhelmed. "I just can't believe it," said Annika Strebel. The 23-year-old student of viticulture from the village of Wintersheim in Rheinhessen is the 63rd German Wine Queen. She is the first German Wine Queen to hail from the largest German wine growing region since 1999.

The China Wine Awards (CWA) 2011 held on September 1, 2011 at "The Mira Hong Kong" was the biggest international wine competition ever held in Greater China. Three fine German wines were awarded medals at the event.
2011 Harvest in Germany Begins
The harvest of the 2011 vintage has begun earlier than usual at August 8th in the German wine region of Rheinhessen. The Palatinian vintners (region of PFALZ) as well as other regions will follow within the next days.

Wines of Germany celebrated the success of Riesling & Co. vintage tasting events in San Francisco May10th and New York City May 12th, 2011, as well as special “Born to be Wine” trade seminars in both cities. The tasting, highlighting the 2010 vintage, offered a range of German Riesling, as well as other varietals such as Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) to members of the trade, sommeliers and media.
Germany Celebrates Pinot Varietals at the Second "Pinot Trio" in New York City
Wines of Germany hosted its second “Pinot Trio” event focusing on the Pinot varieties – Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris – at The Eventi Hotel in New York City on March 2, 2011. While Germany is best known for Riesling, this event provided an opportunity to showcase other popular varietals in Germany. In fact, Germany is the world’s third largest producer of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris and the second largest producer of Pinot Blanc.

The Saxon State Wine Domain Schloss Wackerbarth is part of an exhibition on the development of wine and design at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. It was selected for the section devoted to wine, architecture, and tourism.
