Sommelier Spring Class Trip with VDP Mainzer Weinbörse Visit

April 26 - 30, 2013

International sommeliers are invited to travel to Germany and experience a series of exciting seminars and tastings at one of the world's most reputed wine universities, the Geisenheim Institute. The trip will also include winery visits, the spectacular wine ball and the annual presentation of Germany's wine elite, the VDP Mainzer Weinbörse.

Los Angeles Wine Dinner

December 10, 2012

Wines of Germany is participating in a dinner for travel and tour operators in Los Angeles along with the German National Tourist office, the State Tourist Board of Baden-Wurttemberg and Region Stuttgart.  Guests will embark on a vintner’s journey through Germany while learning more about Germany’s wine regions in the southwest state of Baden-Württemberg and its vibrant capital Stuttgart. Sommelier Mario Leal-Cruz of the Intercontinental Los Angeles Century City at Beverly Hills, will guide a tasting of eight wines from across Germany paired with German-inspired dishes.

 

 

Food & Wine Chef Showcase

Wines of Germany will once again be exhibiting at the Food & Wine Chef Showcase being held November 12 at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. Featured wines will include Spätburgunder and a range of dry to sweet Riesling.

the Summer of Riesling 2012
as we embark on our second-annual
3-hour cruise around New York Harbor.

 

This year, we will ride the high seas in style aboard The Jewel, with 300 of our closest friends, leaving from the Marina at 23rd Street at 8pm, with boarding commencing at 7:30pm.

 

Our night will begin with opening act
DEAD EXES
to get our heart rates pumping and the dance floor bumping,
before we move on to our headlining talent,
LEZ ZEPPELIN,
a four-piece, all-female tribute band to the gods of rock n' roll.

The 31 Days of German Riesling

They say it takes 30 days to acquire a new habit.

So embrace the path to self-improvement with "The 31 Days of German Riesling," a celebration of Germany's most famous wine varietal.

As part of the overall "Summer of Riesling 2012" program, participating restaurants pledge to serve at least two German Rieslings during the month in at least one of the following ways:

  • By the glass specials
  • Flights
  • Food and wine pairings
  • Special dinners or tasting events

Retailers will offer at least one in-store tasting in July.

LUCKYRICE Festival

For the third consecutive year, Wines of Germany will be part of the LUCKYRICE Festival, a week-long celebratory showcase of Asian culinary culture in New York City. Wines of Germany will participate in three festival events this year to highlight how perfectly German wines pair with Asian cuisine:

 

  • Salute to Asian Spice dinner at the James Beard House on Thursday, May 3 - prepared by two of the country’s most celebrated Korean chefs: West Coast-based Sang Yoon (Father’s Office and Lukshon in Los Angeles) and East Coast-based Hooni Kim (DANJI).
  • Grand Feast on Friday, May 4 - a celebrity chef-studded walk-around tasting at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
  • Night Market on Saturday, May 5 - a multi-sensory street food experience that brings the flavor of Asian night markets to the historic Archway under the Manhattan Bridge in Brooklyn.

Riesling Rendezvous

The Destination Riesling campaign will appear at Riesling Rendezvous, which is hosted by North America's premier Riesling producer, Chateau Ste. Michelle of Washington state, and Ernst Loosen of Germany's renowned Dr. Loosen estate. The Grand Tasting for consumers & trade will feature Riesling producers from around the globe on the lawn at Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery in Seattle, Washington. In addition to participating in the Grand Tasting, the Destination Riesling campaign will organize a "Generation Riesling" tasting lead by wine expert Stuart Pigott.
