A German Wine Dinner at Birch Milwaukee – June 7, 2022
This one-day-only event features a five-course wine dinner brimming with dynamic German wines and fresh spring ingredients, prepared by Executive Chef Kyle Knall. The evening’s wine curation will offer an eye-opening glimpse of German wine pairing possibilities.
The evening will commence with canapes on the beautiful Birch patio paired with 2013 Sekthaus Raumland “Cuvée Marie-Luise” Brut, a delightful German sparkling wine that is sure to impress. Guests will then make their way into the dining room, welcomed with Steelhead Trout Crudo, Chilled Summer Squash Broth and Thai Basil and 2020 Dr. Burklin-Wolf Estate Blanc, a springy white blend of Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, and German specialty Scheurebe. Next, guests will enjoy Sweet Peas & Sugar Snaps, Marinated Strawberry, Pink Peppercorn and Lemon Yogurt alongside a dry 2019 Weingut Tesch Lohrerburg Riesling.
The third course, Grilled Walleye, Chilled Asparagus Broth, Nasturtium and Ruby Crescent Potato will pop next to a glass of 2017 Dreissigacker Hasensprung Riesling. Next, Slow Roasted Duck, Rhubarb, Turnips and Lemon Verbena will be served with 2020 Enderle & Moll Liaison Spätburgunder, the German word for Pinot Noir. For a sweet finale, guests will taste Chamomile Panna Cotta, Riesling Granita, and Lemon Balm with a lusciously sweet 2017 Dr. Loosen Beerenauslese Riesling.
